Begin a new career today

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 163 seeks apprentices to join our ranks of the industry’s most qualified and well-trained electricians. Apprentices learn the trade while earning a living for themselves and their families. Additionally, they receive excellent health insurance and retirement benefits, providing a total overall package better than that offered by most non-union electrical contractors. Apprenticeship is a great form of education, which allows a pathway to living a middle class lifestyle. Our apprenticeship training follows the earn while you learn model, which means apprentices work on a jobsite and earn a paycheck. While working for one of the Local’s signatory contractors, apprentices learn the tricks of the trade from skilled and experienced journeymen, who not only teach the apprentices how to perform their work, but show them how to work efficiently, completing quality work on time and doing it right the first time. Besides learning on-the-job, apprentices also receive mandatory classroom instruction, which is held at our state-of-the-art IBEW Local 163 JATC training facility. The classes are led by accredited professionals, who have spent years in the trade and are now dedicated to preparing the next generation of IBEW members. The benefits of joining an apprenticeship are plentiful. All apprentices earn a livable wage, and as they progress through the registered apprenticeship program, they earn scheduled pay increases reflective of their increased skillset. The earn while you learn model is the perfect way to avoid taking on thousands of dollars of student debt. Apprentices even have the ability to work toward college credit through the JATC at little or no cost to you.
